Tara McCarthy

Tara McCarthy is a co-founder and partner at Dovetail Consulting Group. Tara has more than fifteen years of experience advising companies on healthcare compliance, privacy, commercial readiness, regulatory interactions, and strategic communications. She has deep expertise in helping biopharmaceutical companies prepare for commercial success.

Before joining Dovetail Consulting Group, Tara was Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary at Chiasma. In this capacity, Tara served as the company’s Chief Compliance Officer, built a commercial healthcare compliance program, and maintained governance over insider trading, anti-bribery, privacy, and ethics compliance for international and domestic operations.

Prior to her work at Chiasma, Tara served as the Vice President of Commercial Law for Vertex Pharmaceuticals. There, she led a global commercial legal group that helped launch several products in multiple countries.

Earlier in her career, Tara worked at Genzyme where, as Senior Corporate Counsel, she supported the company’s Renal and Endocrinology business unit. Prior to that, Tara served as Assistant General Counsel and Director of Investor Relations for Health Dialog in Boston.

Tara earned her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School, where she was also a graduate student instructor in the Communications Studies department. Tara holds a B.A. from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa.
